Through New Eyes 3 Showcases Andover Artists at the Andover Center for History & Culture Exhibition Dates: May 2 – June 8, Opening Reception: May 3
Andover Center for History & Culture is pleased to present Through New Eyes 3, a juried exhibition of original artwork by Andover artists, on view from May 2 through June 8. An Opening Reception will be held on May 3, welcoming the public to meet the artists and celebrate the creativity and vision that define the local arts community.
Now in its third iteration, Through New Eyes invites artists to reimagine the familiar—offering fresh perspectives on historic objects, landscapes, architecture, and shared experiences of Andover. The exhibition highlights a wide range of media and styles, underscoring the richness and diversity of artistic expression within the town.
Among the featured artists is Alan Michel, whose photo painting series, Reflections on Main Street, explores the visual dialogue between Andover’s historic past and its contemporary presence. Michel’s work captures reflections of historic buildings mirrored in modern glass surfaces—and, at times, the reverse—creating layered compositions that merge time, place, and perception.
Through the use of light, distortion, and color, Michel transforms everyday downtown scenes into dynamic visual montages. Windows become canvases where architectural elements overlap and dissolve into vibrant abstractions. His process embraces serendipity, allowing reflections to shape each image and reveal unexpected relationships between the old and the new.
“Reflections on Main Street is about discovering those moments when the past appears within the present,” Michel notes. “It’s a way of seeing that turns a simple reflection into a conversation across time.”
Visitors to Through New Eyes 3 will encounter artwork that encourages closer looking and renewed appreciation for the familiar. The exhibition offers an opportunity to experience Andover through the distinct and imaginative perspectives of its artists.
The exhibition is free and open to the public. For more information, please visit the Center’s website or contact the Andover Center for History & Culture directly, 978-475-2236 or email
